Weed tips
- Weeds compete for valuable moisture and nutrients so keep on top of them before they develop flowers. Control weeds between pavers or on paths and driveways with Roundup Fast Action
Garden maintenance in November
- Feed, weed and mow lawns to encourage strong root and top growth; raise the cutting height if you haven’t already done so
- Service the mower – this should be done every six months or so to ensure the blades are clean and sharp, to remove any build-up of clippings under the body that could cause it to rust and to ensure the oil level and spark plug are in good order
- Spring prune ornamental fruit and blossom trees not pruned in winter
- New and ‘soft’ plants should be watered regularly
- Plant oxygen producing plants in the pond
- Remove winter and early spring annuals and replace with Summer varieties before mid-month at the latest
- Protect young plants from slugs and snails
- Prune clematis after flowering
- Finish planting evergreen shrubs
- Continue planting vegetables of the season and keep them growing well with regular applications of water-soluble fertiliser
