Weed tips
- Warm soil and summer rain promote rapid weed growth. Weeds compete for valuable moisture and nutrients so keep on top of them to prevent them from getting out-of-control. Use Roundup Ready-to-Use or mix your own from Roundup Concentrate to eradicate them.
Garden maintenance in January
- Recycle your Christmas tree by shredding it for mulch
- Protect plants from hot winds and sun exposure to minimise drying out and leaf burn
- Replenish mulch to maintain a depth of 8 to 10cm
- Water first thing in the morning, before the sun hits plants, and keep water off leaves
- Watch for dry spots (under eaves and overhanging trees, shrubs) and water as required
- Lift spring flowering bulbs when foliage has completely died down. Leave to dry for a few days before brushing off soil and storing in a cool dry place for planting again in autumn
