Ox - Eye Daisy Find a Weed

(Leucanthemum vulgare syn chrysanthemum leucanthemum) An erect perennial herb with a spreading root system, Ox-eye Daisy has its origins in Europe and western Asia. Its leaves appear mainly at ground level and low down on stems. Its white daisy flowers with prominent yellow eye are quite attractive – it was most likely originally introduced into Australia as an attractive garden plant but its creeping roots and the indiscriminate dumping of garden waste has seen it escape into and successfully colonise bushland, mainly on the coastal fringes of the south-east and south-west of the continent where rainfall is high. It out-competes native ground vegetation very successfully.
