Angled onion, Stinking onion Find a Weed

(Allium triquetrum) Onion Weed, native to the western Mediterranean region, is a bulbous perennial that thrives in damp, semi-shaded areas. Once established, it has the potential to completely smother and replace other ground cover. It is a very persistent weed, may take extensive time and effort to eradicate and is easily identified by its strong onion-like odour – very pervasive when plants are mown. It closely resembles and is occasionally confused with the ornamental Snowdrop (Leucojum vernum) but does not have green spots on its petals. It is most often spread by indiscriminate dumping of garden waste and also by seed dispersal.
