Onion grass Find a Weed

(Romulea Rosea) Onion Grass, a member of the iris family and originating in South Africa, is a perennial with narrow, grass-like foliage and which produces a small brown corm underground. It is a common weed in urban areas and often appears in domestic lawns and parks, in open woodlands and along roadsides. Once established, it is difficult to eradicate as the corms persist even under drought conditions. It flowers in spring, with between one and four small, bright pink flowers produced on each plant. It is spread by seeds and corms often included in dumped lawn clippings or other garden waste.
