  • If your lawn is beyond redemption, or in dire need of repair, now is the time to do it, while days are mild but there is enough warmth in the sun to promote rapid growth. If required, kill the existing lawn fully with Roundup. Wait for at least a week (until it is obvious the grass is dying) before cultivating and preparing the soil either for sowing seed or laying turf.
  • Plant evergreen trees and shrubs, including hedges. Be sure to water regularly if the weather is dry
  • Plant early potatoes
  • Lift and divide overgrown clumps of perennials that weren’t lifted in autumn
  • Clip lavenders after the first flush of flowers
  • Start mowing the lawn regularly, and raise the cutting height to leave the grass a little longer – that will protect the roots from the sun
  • Plant summer flowering bulbs – gladioli will bloom about 60 days after corms are planted
  • Sow seeds of summer annuals like French and African marigolds, petunias and nicotianas
  • Prune climbers and plant new ones
 

Why have weeds re-grown after several weeks?

Only deep-rooted rhizomatous weeds may re-grow. This will only happen if too little Roundup has been allowed to penetrate the full plant system. In this instance, a re-treatment will be required.

Why has it killed the grass?

Because Roundup is a non selective weedkiller, that means that Roundup is very effective at killing all plants. So be careful to only spray weeds or plants that you don’t want to keep.

Can it be used on paving?

Yes definitely, Roundup is ideal for use on paving, paths and drives as it penetrates right to the weeds roots to ensure a complete kill.
